Seven10 to Present Best Practices for Migrating and Storing Healthcare Images at HIMSS15 Conference

COMPANY CTO HIGHLIGHTS STORAGE VNA AND PACS/DICOM VNA DIFFERENCES AT EMC CORPORATION’S BOOTH

LAWRENCE, MA – April 9, 2015 - Seven10, a leading developer of seamless data migration and cloud-based Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) software, announced today that the company’s CTO, Chris Magyar, will be addressing EMC Corporation’s theatre attendees at HIMSS15. Magyar’s presentation titled, “Storage VNA vs. PACS/DICOM VNA: Your Best Choice,” will discuss best practices for migrating Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) images archived in departmental Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) applications into a centralized Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA). The presentation will be held at the EMC Booth #2848 on Tuesday, April 14, 4:30pm (CST).

With constantly evolving data management technologies, ideal Storage VNA solutions must enable healthcare organizations to simplify the storage refresh process by transparently migrating data to the latest and most cost- effective storage solutions. When reviewing possible Storage VNAs, healthcare organizations need to select a product that:

  • Provides an intelligent integration layer between archival applications and underlying storage.
  • Addresses storage product deficiencies and adds required, customer-specific functionality (i.e. tiering).
  • Transparently migrates customers from aging storage devices to modern SAN, NAS and Cloud storage
technologies.

“To help meet regulatory requirements, healthcare organizations need to retain patient records and images for extended periods of time, generating a significant amount of data that needs to be stored and protected,” said David DeAngelis, General Manager, Global Healthcare Business, EMC Corporation. “EMC and Seven10 are working together to help healthcare providers deliver agile, next-generation Health IT as organizations migrate data to private, hybrid and public clouds.”

Healthcare organizations continue to select Seven10’s Storfirst Gateway software to quickly decommission legacy storage devices while simultaneously modernizing their infrastructure with the adoption of EMC technologies. Seven10 offers migration PLUS go-forward data management - all without interrupting day-to-day operations or breaking the bank. The migration + management solution provides remote administration to help reduce costs, while ensuring access to critical content is uninterrupted as files move from legacy storage to new storage devices.

“Customers investigating a PACS VNA need to consider whether they truly require a multi-PACS shared diagnostic image sharing solution,” Magyar said. “An alternative approach would be to deploy a Storage VNA to address the recurring refresh and storage management problems. I look forward to comparing today’s healthcare image storage and migration options with HIMSS 2015 attendees.”
